1. Atlanta Georgia | Disbelief !!!
To say that I was in a trance would be the understatement of the century.Memories of Chicago came flooding back to haunt me, and I was engulfed by an overwhelming sense of despair, desperation, isolation, and total utter disbelief.....
Continued :
Was I dreaming, was this some sort of perverted American joke, had I in some way lost the ability to distinguish between what was real, what was just, what was fair and what wasn’t, or had other people lost this capability. There was confusion, there was anger, there was rage, there was bitterness, and in the end there was a weird sense of calmness, the sort of calmness that only a man who has been condemned unjustly can ever know or feel, a calmness rooted in a helpless, hopeless mentality.
Why this happened to me is open for debate. The fact that the copper was black and I white may be the reason, it was Georgia after all.To suggest that racism doesn’t exist, whether its in the police force or amongst the population in general, is to insinuate that America lives in a utopian world or, more powerfully put, to deny them the very essence of their history. It may have had something to do with the fact that police in America are normally judged on a quota system, which equates to them having to make a certain amount of arrests per week or month to reach their quota, and if these targets aren't achieved it will only lead to difficulities for them. However, it doesn’t really matter what the reason for it was, maybe it was a combination of both, because the fact remains that I got a three month sentence for pissing in public.
